Tom O’Connor Consulting Group (TOCG) is pleased to announce that Rochelle Torres (she/her) has been appointed Director of Marketing and Communications by Playwrights Horizons (Adam Greenfield, Artistic Director; Casey York, Managing Director; Carol Fishman, General Manager) in New York City following our extensive search led by Tom O’Connor and Rani Haywood.

Rochelle Torres was most recently Director of Marketing & Digital Engagement at StoryCorps, following her tenure as Director of Marketing, Communications, & Engagement at New York’s Signature Theatre Company. She returns to Playwrights Horizons having previously served as Assistant Director of Marketing there from 2012 to 2020. She is a graduate of the University of Evansville where she studied Theatre Management. Rochelle stepped into her new role on November 20.

“We are proud to welcome Rochelle back to Playwrights Horizons,” said Carol Fishman. “In her previous tenure with the organization, she was a constant source of creativity, strategic thinking, and up-to-the-minute intelligence about the latest innovations in marketing. She returns to Playwrights with a wealth of additional experience both in and outside of the American theater, making her the perfect partner as we meet this challenging time of contraction for our industry with new producing models and ways of engaging audiences.”

"I'm absolutely thrilled to rejoin the Playwrights Horizons team now as Director of Marketing & Communications.” said Torres. “It is heartwarming and invigorating to come back to an organization that has long been a beacon for innovation, and I look forward to building on that legacy by connecting with new audiences and amplifying new models of theatre creation and theatregoing."

“We could not be more pleased to bring Rochelle Torres ‘back to 42nd Street’ to lead the Marketing and Communications team at Playwrights Horizons,” said Tom O’Connor. “Adam, Casey, and Carol are spearheading an incredibly compelling next chapter for Playwrights Horizons, and we know that Rochelle will be an extraordinary collaborator in building audiences for their expansive new works of contemporary American playwrights.”

About Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons is a writer's theater dedicated to the development of contemporary American playwrights, and to the production of innovative new work. In a city rich with cultural offerings, Playwrights Horizons' 53-year-old mission is unique among theaters of its size; the organization has distinguished itself by a steadfast commitment to centering and advancing the voice of the playwright. It’s a mission that is always timely, and one that’s necessary in the ongoing evolution of theater in this country.

Playwrights Horizons believes that playwrights are the great storytellers of our time, offering essential contributions to civic discourse and illuminating life’s greatest paradoxes. And they believe in the singularity of a writer’s voice, valuing the broad, eclectic spectrum and diversity of American writers. At Playwrights Horizons, writers are supported in every stage of their growth through commissions (engaging several of today’s most imaginative playwrights each year), New Works Lab, and Almanac, the organization’s literary magazine.

Playwrights Horizons presents a season of productions annually on their two stages, each of which is a world, American, or New York premiere. Much like Playwrights Horizons’ work, their audience is risk-taking and adventurous; and the organization is committed to strengthening their engagement and feeding their curiosity through all of its programming, onsite and online.
